Peta Cook’s research interests centre on medical science and technologies, particularly those which are controversial and pose challenges to human embodiment, identity and ontology, and the nation-state. As a result, her research traverses science and technology studies; health, medicine and illness; embodiment; and tourism. Peta’s current work includes an examination of sociocultural assessments of and reactions to xenotransplantation (animal-to-human transplantation), Botox, and health and medical tourism.

Peta is currently on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Sociology.
