About
Dr Benjamin Brooks is a Senior Research Fellow within the National Centre for Ports and Shipping at the Australian Maritime College. He has a background in safety management systems, occupational health and human decision making, having completed his PhD in this area at the Monash University Accident Research Centre.
He worked for several years as a consultant in safety management systems, workers compensation systems and as a safety specialist in Australian State Governments.
From 2003-04 he was a Visiting Research Fellow at the School of Technology and Health, Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. From 2007-09 he was a Senior Research Fellow in the Human Factors Group at the University of South Australia working in a diverse range of industries including power generation, rail and healthcare.
His research interests include Maritime Human Factors; Organizational and Safety Culture; Human Decision-making and Cognition; Safety Management Systems; and the Collection and analysis of accident/injury data.
